Life rarely follows the path we imagine.
For many years, I was a single mother raising four children, often living paycheck to paycheck while wondering how I was going to make everything work. Like so many parents, I carried the weight of providing for my family while trying to create a life filled with love, stability, and hope. There were seasons of uncertainty, exhaustion, and setbacks that felt impossible to overcome. Despite those challenges, I never stopped believing that difficult chapters could eventually become meaningful ones.
One of the greatest honors of my life was watching three of my four children choose to serve our country in the military. During my youngest son’s basic training, he wrote home often. His letters captured not only the humor and hardships of military life but also the personal growth that comes through discipline, perseverance, and service. Those letters eventually became my first published book, Letters from the “War Front”: One Soldier’s Tales from Basic Training. That project became much more than publishing a book.
A few years after returning from four deployments to Afghanistan, my brother Kevin lost his battle with the invisible wounds of war and died by suicide. Like countless military families, ours experienced firsthand the devastating reality that some battles continue long after a service member comes home.
His loss changed me forever. It also strengthened my commitment to do something meaningful with my own story.
That commitment inspired the creation of my military-themed coloring book, Letters, Lines & Legacy, and continues to shape every project I create. My goal isn’t simply to sell books or products. It’s to preserve stories, honor service, encourage conversations about mental health, and remind people that resilience is built one day at a time.
While my work has its roots in the military community, my message reaches much further.
It’s for the single parent wondering if they’ll ever catch a break.
It’s for the veteran searching for hope after service.
It’s for the family carrying burdens no one else can see.
It’s for anyone who has experienced loss, disappointment, or the feeling that life has taken more than it has given.
I don’t believe our hardest experiences define us. I believe they can become the foundation for compassion, purpose, and service to others.
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s this: There is light beyond the hardest seasons. Sometimes we don’t see it until we’re far enough down the road to turn around and realize we’ve become the light someone else needed.
Thank you for being here. Whether you came looking for a book, a story, encouragement, or simply a reminder that you’re not alone, I hope you leave with a little more hope than you arrived with.
Welcome to my journey. I hope it inspires yours.
